Of the airports serving Courchevel, Chambéry (CMF) is the near one — 115 km, 1h30 to 2h00 east through Albertville and Moûtiers, against Geneva's 2h15-plus. Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc is a winter animal: from December the UK charters pour in — London, Manchester, Birmingham — with the Dutch close behind, all bound for the Tarentaise. The road runs due east to Albertville, then up the valley to Moûtiers, the last town before the climb to Courchevel and Les Trois Vallées — 600 km of linked pistes, the largest domain on earth. The final thirty kilometres of switchbacks are the drive's whole examination.
Winter law governs them: tyres or chains mandatory from 1 November to 31 March, and our fleet answers with the G-Class, winter-shod Mercedes and chains in every boot. The shortest run on paper is still a mountain road — the right car is never optional. Delivery reaches 1850, Moriond at 1650, 1550 and Le Praz, slope-side or to the chalet door.
