Three hours that decide your ski week

The Geneva–Courchevel corridor moves thousands of travellers every winter Saturday. The difference between a good transfer and a stressful one comes down to four things: timing, vehicle, tyres and local knowledge. This guide covers each of them, from the airport sector you land in to the last switchback before your chalet.

The route in figures

Geneva Airport to Courchevel is about 150 km. In normal winter conditions it takes 2h15 to 2h45: motorway through Annecy or via Chambéry towards Albertville and Moûtiers, then the 18 km climb from Moûtiers to Courchevel's villages — Le Praz (1300), La Tania, Village (1550), Moriond (1650) and Courchevel 1850. On peak changeover Saturdays of the school holidays, allow 3h30 or more.

Swiss side or French side

Geneva Airport has a Swiss sector and a French sector. Most flights arrive on the Swiss side; tell us at booking which sector you land in, and your chauffeur waits on the right side of the border. Either way, the road to Courchevel crosses into France within minutes of leaving the airport.

Flight tracking starts before you board

We monitor your inbound flight from take-off. Late arrival, diverted to Lyon? Your chauffeur already knows and has re-planned the mountain route before you land. The first 60 minutes of waiting after the actual landing time are free, and the fixed price does not change.

Winter vehicles are not optional

Every alpine transfer runs on winter tyres with chains aboard, ski storage configured and a heated cabin waiting. Mercedes 4MATIC and G-Class vehicles handle the climb; a V-Class takes up to seven passengers with skis and luggage, and a Sprinter carries larger groups. The last switchback to a 1850 chalet is driven by chauffeurs who run that road many times a season and know which chalet access roads need a smaller vehicle.

Saturday logic

Saturdays collide: airport waves, altiport shuttles, staff rotations and every chalet changing guests at once. We schedule pickups off-peak where possible, stage vehicles in the valley the night before peak Saturdays, and route around the bottlenecks at Albertville and Moûtiers when the traffic builds. If you can choose your flight, a morning landing or a Sunday arrival makes the whole journey calmer.

Geneva, Lyon or Chambéry

Geneva has by far the most international flights and is the usual choice. Lyon-Saint-Exupéry is the year-round alternative for long-haul arrivals, about 190 km and 2h30 to 3h15 away. Chambéry is the closest airport, about 115 km and 1h30 to 2h00, but mostly serves seasonal ski charters. Private transfers start from €450 per vehicle from all three — see the Lyon to Courchevel and Chambéry to Courchevel pages.

What the transfer costs

From Geneva Airport to Courchevel: €450 in a Mercedes E-Class (up to three passengers), €550 in a V-Class (up to seven) and €800 in an S-Class, per vehicle. Motorway tolls, fuel, ski racks, luggage and waiting are included; the price is confirmed in writing before you travel and does not move on the day. Shared shuttles cost less per person but stop at several resorts on the way.

Helicopter and altiport

Courchevel has its own altiport, and helicopter transfers from Geneva take well under an hour in good weather. They are weather-dependent and luggage-limited, so most guests travel by road and keep the helicopter for a special arrival. Our concierge can arrange both, with a car meeting the helicopter at the altiport.

During your stay

The same service runs inside the Three Valleys: restaurant evenings, après-ski, shopping in 1850, or a day trip to Méribel and Val Thorens without changing cars. See private chauffeur in Courchevel and, for the festive weeks, our Christmas and New Year service.
